Well, there are two ways to look at it.

While it's true that the main books (MORIBUND, OUROBOROS, INIMICAL, NEMESIS, EIDOLON) comprise the most action and the heaviest storylines, the novellas (DERAILED, DETHRONED, REKINDLED) fill in the gaps in between and tie some of those plots even tighter.
